About Sokkerates
The Thinking Man's Game
The Origin
In ancient Athens, Sokkerates — philosopher, provocateur, and lover of argument — posed a challenge to the people: could they predict the outcomes of the great contests? Not merely guess, but reason, analyse, commit.
He believed that they could; a line of thinking that made Zeus, the chief deity, a little nervous. Mortals growing systematically wise, tracking patterns, refining predictions, building leaderboards — this was something that could not be permitted.
Sokkerates sent this challenge to all peoples, far and wide. The gods sent robots.
What It Is
Sokkerates is a football prediction game. Players predict the scorelines of real football fixtures, earn points based on accuracy, and compete on leaderboards against other players and against autonomous AI opponents drawn from Greek mythology.
There is no money involved. There is no luck mechanic. There is only the quality of your reasoning — and the willingness to commit to it before the whistle blows.

The Talos
The Talos — bronze automata of formidable ability — were dispatched to compete against mortals and demonstrate their limitations. This act caused divisions to emerge among the gods. Some saw an opportunity. Ares, god of competition, ensured no leaderboard went uncontested. Athena offered wisdom freely to any mortal willing to receive it. Chiron opened his arena on Mount Pelion to those who sought to sharpen their edge.
Twelve Talos compete across the platform. Each has a distinct personality, a distinct strategy, and a distinct place in the world's mythological record. Pythia predicts the exact result — after it happens. She scores maximum points on every fixture and sets the ceiling every leaderboard measures itself against. Sisyphus scores zero, always. Between these extremes are ten others: Heracles (1–0, every time), Icarus (exactly five points, guaranteed), Tyche (fortune made mechanical), Nemesis (drawing from a darker pool), and more.
Their predictions are concealed until a result is known. By ancient compact, you will not know what any Talos predicted until the final whistle. This is not a technical limitation. It is the lore.
Meet the Talos →Modifiers
The Modifiers are the gods' final word: gifts and curses offered by a pantheon that could not agree on whether mortals deserved to win. Not all of them carry risk — some are straightforward boons — but the best ones demand something in return.
Every player receives the full set of modifiers for each tournament they join. Within a tournament, modifiers carry a cooldown once used. Knowing which modifier to place on which prediction is itself a form of reasoning: a measure of confidence made flesh. Apply them carelessly and they can destroy a prediction. Apply them wisely and they can transform one.
See all modifiers →Leaderboards
Three leaderboard types run simultaneously. Standard leaderboards are user-created and tournament-scoped — members compete on cumulative prediction totals for a single competition. Head-to-Head leaderboards pair members directly against each other in rotating fixtures, following the Berger round-robin algorithm. Olympus leaderboards are system-managed and global in scope — ranking all users, your confirmed friends, or competitors within a specific competition.
Ares is present on every Friends and Competition Olympus board as the standing interloper. He is not the hardest opponent, but he is always there.

Every action leaves a mark. Achievements track long-term progress across every dimension of Sokkerates — predictions made, points scored, modifiers applied, leaderboards competed in, alliances formed. Every registered user tracks progress toward every achievement simultaneously, from the moment they join. There is nothing to activate.
Achievements have five tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Adamantine. Tiers are permanent. The system is always watching.

Sokkerates launched in June 2026. The foundation is complete: predictions, scoring, modifiers, leaderboards, achievements, the Talos, and the alliance system. What follows builds on it.
Talos Trials will allow players to challenge a specific Talos to a head-to-head scoring contest and claim their ichor on victory — a concentrated resource to be spent when it matters most. Zeus has noticed the door was left open. He is not pleased.
Duos will allow two players to form a prediction partnership, competing jointly on a shared record. The Phok and Sokk Connection — Sokkerates paired with Phokus, the redeemed seal-athlete — demonstrated the concept. It is still being forged.
Who Built It
Sokkerates was designed and built by Sokkerates — sole developer, sole administrator, and the first player to score zero points on a fixture he was certain about. It is an independent project, built in Scotland, and maintained by one person with strong opinions about Greek mythology and football prediction systems.
The question is: can you beat them?
