Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

1. Who We Are

Sokkerates is an independent football prediction game operated by a sole developer based in Scotland. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is handled.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following data when you register and use Sokkerates:

  • Email address — used for account authentication only
  • Username and display name — public-facing identity within the game
  • Optional profile fields — nationality, country of residence, date of birth, biography
  • Prediction data — your submitted scores and results
  • Leaderboard and H2H fixture history — your competitive record

We do not collect payment information, location data, or device identifiers. We do not use tracking cookies or analytics beyond what is necessary to operate the service.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to operate Sokkerates — to authenticate your account, display your predictions and standings, and calculate game results. We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for any purpose.

5. Data Storage

Sokkerates is hosted on Railway, a cloud infrastructure provider. Your data is stored on servers within the European Economic Area. Railway's privacy policy is available at railway.app.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.

4. Account Deletion and Data Retention

You may delete your account at any time via Settings. On deletion, your personal data — email address, profile information, and active predictions — is permanently removed.

However, your username and a reference to your prediction scores within closed Head-to-Head fixtures are retained. This is necessary to preserve the historical integrity of completed H2H competitions, which form part of other users' permanent records. This retention is based on legitimate interest under UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f). The retained data is limited to your username and match scores — no contact information or profile data is kept.

If you have concerns about retained data, please contact us via the Contact page.

6. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (subject to the retention note in section 4)
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest

To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the Contact page.
